About Crochet Baby Gifts

Crochet Baby Gifts is a reference site for people giving or making handmade baby gifts. It publishes size charts, yarn guides, care instructions and gifting advice — the practical things you need to look up, gathered in one place and checked.

What this site publishes

Two things this site does not do

It publishes no crochet patterns. Not ours, and — more importantly — not anyone else’s. Writing a pattern that actually works requires crocheting it and test-fitting it, and reproducing someone else’s pattern text or photographs is copyright infringement. There are excellent designers doing that work. We are not one of them and we do not pretend to be.

It publishes no AI-generated photographs of crochet. This matters in this craft specifically. Between 2023 and 2026 a scam economy grew up selling patterns advertised with AI images of finished objects that could not actually be made — it drew national news coverage, and it burned a lot of people. A synthetic photograph of a crocheted blanket is not a stylistic shortcut in this niche; it is the signature of that scam. So the images here are diagrams, charts and typography, and when there is a photograph it is a real one.

How the content is made

Articles are drafted with AI assistance and then reviewed by a human before publication. Every number in a chart traces back to a real, checkable source — a published standard, a regulation, or a measurement — and where a figure is an estimate, the page says so and says what it is based on. Where something genuinely cannot be pinned down, the page says that too, rather than inventing a confident answer.

That last part is the actual editorial position of this site. Most craft reference content presents convention as if it were standard. Blanket “standard sizes” are a convention; yarn weights genuinely are a standard. Knowing which is which is useful, and almost nobody says it.

The full policy is on the editorial policy page.
